Downtown Tulsa

We%26#39;ll be in town to see a play at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center. We are thinking about staying Downtown near the theater. What is Downtown Tulsa like? Anything to do? Any good restaurants? The Crown Plaza is right across the street. Is that the best place to stay?

Downtown Tulsa

The ratings here on Trip Advisor are pretty poor for the Crown Plaza. Instead, I would recomment the Ambassador, one of Oklahoma%26#39;s premier properties and near the PAC. Their restaurant is quite good, too. For other dining and entertainment options, the Ambassador is near the Cherry Street area which is filled with options.

Downtown Tulsa

The Crowne Plaza has some nice rooms, but I tend to agree if you want something really upscale, the Ambassador is the finer of the two... and only 1/4 the size of the Plaza. Downtown Tulsa isn%26#39;t up to speed on excitement and tourism like so many other refurbished downtowns in the country - no night life other than the theatre, and few restaurants other than those daytime ones for downtown workers. But hopefully you will have a car, and can venture south of downtown to see more of what we have to offer. Cherry Street, which is south of downtown (actually 15th street) does have many eateries, bars, etc to chose from... but definitely too far to walk to from the Plaza. Hope you enjoy your stay!

You can%26#39;t beat the Crowne Plaza for location. If you stay there, either bring ear plugs for the trains (that pass by during the night, on the North side of the hotel) or ask for a room away from the trains.

The Ambassador is a good option; you might consider the Downtown Doubletree as well (neither are walking distance to the PAC, though).

Nightspots continue to pop up (%26amp; go) in the 1st %26amp; Elgin area, mostly a younger crowd. Brady District has a few nice places to eat %26amp; browse; but Judi is right, Tulsa%26#39;s downtown area has been lagging other cities. That%26#39;s beginning to change, with the construction of the new arena.

More night-time activity, both bars %26amp; good restaurants, can be found in the Brookside area, between 31st %26amp; 41st on South Peoria.

Enjoy your stay.
