Suites in Tulsa

Hi! Can the experts in the Tulsa area point me towards a hotel that has suites with a kitchennette, separate seating areas and either two bedrooms or that has a suite and an adjoining regular room with a connecting door? I%26#39;m meeting a family member in Tulsa for 4 days and we want a place to sit in comfort and reminisce without having to sit on the bed. We each like our privacy and would prefer not to share a bedroom. I%26#39;m thinking about Guesthouse Suites, Doubletree Hotel-Warren Place, Candlewood suites, or Studioplus-Tulsa Central. Does anyone have any information about any of these? We are somewhat limited in our choices by the fact that my sister (who is a dog trainer) is picking up a small dog on the last day that will fly home with her, so the place must allow pets (even though it will only be for one evening). Thanks for you quick reply. I need to get the reservations made as soon as possible.

Suites in Tulsa

Welcome to Tulsa, and I hope you thoroughly enjoy your stay here. Of those hotels you mentioned, Doubletree doesn%26#39;t have a kitchenette suite, or much sitting room unless you go for the Concierge Floor, and enjoy the lounge up there. Guesthouse Suites is now StudioPlus. And they are pretty shabby in my opinion. The only Candlewood Suites in Tulsa I%26#39;m aware of is in the southern most part of Tulsa. You don%26#39;t mention the Hawthorn Suites - but I believe it would be the best to fit your needs. Hopefully this link will work to their site: hawthorn.com/reservations/locationdetail.asp… Of the other Suites you mentioned, I do know that Studioplus is a no frills sort of place, and pretty cheap. Both of these suite hotels are located near the center of Tulsa, and near expressways. I%26#39;m not sure if either allow pets, however, I have seen people outside with their pets at Hawthorn Suites. Sometimes places ask for a small pet deposit ';just in case';. Hope this helps!

Thanks for your reply. The information about the other locations came from various hotel websites, but after reading your reply, it seems that their websites must have out-dated information! I did some searches on the Hawthorne Suites and the reviews were very poor, so I%26#39;m very concerned about that. We definately want a nice place to stay in a good area. I guess for now the search continues! If you have any other suggestions, I would really appreciate it.

While I don%26#39;t know if they allow pets as a general rule, there is a quaint small hotel called The Savoy located near downtown (6th %26amp; Peoria). Just 7 rooms and they do have kitchenettes. Check out their website, www.tulsasavoy.com. It%26#39;s small enough that you may be able to persuade them to allow a small dog for 1 of your 4 nights, particularly with a dog trainer. I haven%26#39;t stayed there, but have been curiously aware of it for awhile %26amp; would be very interested in your review if you do stay there.

Thanks for the advise. Now how about restaurant recommendations? lol I love the steaks at Outback, but some of the Outbacks are better than others (depends on the chef, I%26#39;m sure). Is there a good one in Tulsa? I remember that there%26#39;s one on 71st, but it%26#39;s been 6 years since I%26#39;ve eaten there, so I don%26#39;t know if it%26#39;s still a good one or not. What are your favorite places to eat when you want a nice evening out?

I%26#39;m personally not a big Outback fan, but my favorite steak house, is and has been for 35 years - Steak and Ale, located just west of Yale on 51st street. This restaurant has survived because of the quality of the food! My favorite is the Kensington Club and I highly recommend Steak and Ale, for a dining choice. The wait staff is attentive and excellent. The salad bar has the BEST blue cheese dressing in Tulsa!

For the best steaks in Tulsa, try Jamil%26#39;s, on 51st Street between Harvard %26amp; Lewis, North side of the road. Can%26#39;t say much about the interior (kind of like dining inside a mobile home), but definitely can rave about the steaks! It%26#39;s a Lebanese style steakhouse, so don%26#39;t overlook the tabouli, BBQ ribs, BBQ balogna, cabbage rolls, etc. that come as an appetizer with every meal.

If price is no object, Flemings in Utica Square. A chain, but a great (and expensive) one, with an extensive wine list.

Have heard good things about another high end steak house, Mahogany%26#39;s; haven%26#39;t tried it yet.

Try the Embassy Suites. They have just undergone a huge remodeling job and it has a nice new fresh appeal to it. Free drinks in the evening and a cooked to order breakfast come included with the price of the room. Nice indoor pool too!

I don%26#39;t think that the Embassy Suites allows pets. There is a nice Staybridge Suites in Tulsa that allows pets. It is a newer hotel that has clean and spacious rooms. I would definitely recommend adding the Staybridge Suites to your list of possible places to stay. The hotel has a webpage at www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/sb/1/en/hd/tulsa.

I%26#39;ve eaten there before myself, and can most definitely vouch for Steak and Ale! Some of the best steak I%26#39;ve ever eaten in my life right there, and I am an %26#39;Outback%26#39; fan myself, but Steak and Ale just can%26#39;t be beat, imho.

Another steakhouse to try, Doe%26#39;s Eat Place on 15th Street between Peoria %26amp; Utica. Ate there recently--steak was excellent.
