I will be in Oklahoma first week in May. Where do I go for some good fishing. Trout and bass mainly. Wanting small campgrounds fairly close to fishing water. I have drove through, but never spent time there.

I do not fish, but I do love the Blue River which, I understand, has some good fishing. http://blueriverok.com/

Thanks for the links that helps out alot!
Depending upon which parts of the state you will be in, the fishing will vary considerably, as will the terrain and the number and depth of the lakes. Here is a link to the Oklahoma Dept. of Wildlife Conservation website, where you can get some useful info:

The following is a website that features info on Oklahoma lakes, rivers and campgrounds, along with a lot of other good stuff. Right now, it even features Blue River, as mentioned by Twoprofs:

If you know, more specifically, which part of the state you will be in, others may be able to offer more specific details. I will say, however, that you won%26#39;t find much trout fishing. It will pretty much be limited to the extreme NE part of the state, and will be limited even there. The water in most of the rest of the state is not generally clear or cold enough for trout. Bass fishing, both black bass and stripers, can be successful throughout the state. As with most lakes, Oklahoma%26#39;s lakes are much easier to fish with success, if you have a boat.
Oops. I just realized that second link is the same one sent by Twoprofs. Oh well, now you can access it two ways.
For the most part I think I will be in the eastern half of the state.
The lakes I%26#39;m familiar with in the eastern part of the state are as follows:
Lake Hudson - NE of Tulsa - Pretty good fishing lake, not terribly busy. I think there are some camping areas, but not sure.
Lake Skiatook - NW of Tulsa - Not really known as a great fishing lake, but there is a fair amount of fishing activity there. Can be busy on the weekends. Several camping areas all around the lake.
Oologah - NE of Tulsa- Good fishing lake. Lots of timber. Need a boat.
Copan Lake - North of Tulsa, almost to Kansas - Small lake, pretty good fishing. Some camping areas.
Hulah Lake - Also North of Tulsa, about 10 miles west of Copan. Probably not worth trying. Very shallow, not much for fishing.
Grand Lake - NE of Tulsa - Large lake, but has lots of popular fishing areas and camping spots.
Lake Tenkiller - Also a good sized lake, not nearly as big as Grand. Clear, deep, cold water.
There are actually many, many more lakes, especially smaller ones, in eastern OK. These are just the ones I%26#39;m most familiar with. Hopefully, you can get some real fishermen to read this and help you out some more.
