Hi everybody. This might seem like a trivial question, but my family %26amp; I will be visiting the National Cowboy %26amp; Heritage Museum, followed by the Oklahoma National Monument later on the same day. The Cowboy Museum states that large purses and backpacks etc are not permitted in the museum. I have a handbag which I will be carrying with me pretty much at all times. I don%26#39;t feel comfortable leaving valuables (cash, passports, travel documents etc) in our hotel room, nor do I feel safe leaving them in the car. I%26#39;ll also have a digital camera and video (for outside the museum and OKC in general).
Does anyone know if you can take reasonably sized handbags or purses into the museum with you, or do they have secure lockers where you can leave your stuff? I tried emailing the museum but never got a reply.
Also, with regards to the National Monument is there free parking or any parking close by? We%26#39;ll probably be visiting on a Sunday.
Thanks for your help.
Security at National Cowboy MuseumAS long as the handbag isn%26#39;t as large as an airline carry-on bag you should be fine. I haven%26#39;t seen anyone with a reasonably sized handbag refused entry to the museum.
Downtown parking is limited, but available. You might have some luck finding a spot on the street right by the Memorial on a Sunday morning. If not, Go to this site:
oklahomacitynationalmemorial.org/鈥?/a>
and it has more parking info for the Memorial, although somewhat vague.
What I would personally do is park at one of the pay garages by/in Bricktown and use the trolley to travel to the Memorial. Here is a link to the public garages:
www.bricktownokc.com/transportation.asp
And here is a link to the trolleys (Downtown will be the spirit trolleys):
gometro.org/metro_transit%20folder/metro_tra鈥?/a>
It has time and price information as well as maps.
Use the blue line to the memorial and here is a blue line map:

Have fun!
