Traveling to Oklahoma City for a Softball Tournament

April 17th

Any Suggestions or pro%26#39;s or Con%26#39;s

Thank You

So you%26#39;ll be flying from Des Moines? Nothing is going to fly direct. The most direct routes for you would probably be Northwest via MSP or, if you can get it, American through STL. Otherwise, you%26#39;ll probably be routed through DFW (busy and huge but doable), DEN (pretty far out of your way), or O%26#39;Hare (which I always avoid if I can). But you know, it%26#39;s not that bad of a drive from Des Moines to OKC if you%26#39;ve got a little extra time.

The tournament will probably be at the Softball Hall of Fame. I can%26#39;t think of anything very close which I would recommend, so you%26#39;ll need a car. The best choices would be in the Downtown/Bricktown (near I-40 %26amp; I-235) area where you%26#39;ll find a number of nice hotels (Courtyard, Residence Inn, Skirvin, Colcord, Renaissance) for the $150 a night neighborhood, or in the Penn Square area (Northwest Expressway %26amp; I-44) area where you%26#39;ll find several options (Courtyard, Amerisuites, Hampton, Sleep) for closer to $100 a night. Bricktown has lots of restaurants and night life; Penn Square has lots of restaurants and shopping.

Give us more specifics. Between us, Modcon and I can do a pretty good job of guiding you.

Twoprofs has it right - you will have to travel through another city, and change planes, to get to OKC from Des Moines. The shortest route will take you through St. Louis or Chicago. The other routes will require significantly longer travel time. American Airlines goes through St. Louis or Chicago and on Expedia for a flight leaving 4/17 and returning 4/21 the price is the lowest or the carriers.

And once here you will require a vehicle.

As for hotels, once again I agree with Twoprofs. The Penn Square area (Marriott Waterford, Courtyard OKC Northwest, Wingate Inn) and the area around May Ave and NW Expressway (Oklahoma City Marriott, Comfort Inn at Founder%26#39;s Tower, Crowne Plaza) would probably suit you best. If you could give us an idea of a max price we can probably help more.
