I am planning a weekend get-away to celebrate my husband%26#39;s 50th birthday (just the two of us). Would like to find a nice luxury-type cabin - something in a quiet area with a deck and beautiful views would be perfect. I have looked at the River%26#39;s Edge Cottages, and they look very nice, but I think the ones I am most interested in may be booked on the weekends for the next few months. Can anyone recommend other similar cabins in the area that I should check into? Thanks!
Cabin Recommendations - Husband's Birthday?Have you thought about Arkansas instead? When I think of a scenic, romantic escape, I think of the Buffalo River area near Ponca or Jasper in Arkansas.

Cabin Recommendations - Husband's Birthday?Twoprofs - Thank you for your suggestion - it is definitely something to consider. We went on a canoe float trip on the Buffalo River many years ago, and it was beautiful - I did not realize that they have cabin rentals there. I was considering the Broken Bow area primarily because it is within reasonable driving distance from Oklahoma City - I seem to remember the drive to the Buffalo River area taking quite a bit longer? Even so, it is worth looking into.
Try Creative Escape%26#39;s cabins in Beavers Bend (http://www.beaversbendcreativeescape.com/). I%26#39;m taking my husband and some family members there this weekend for his 40th birthday - I%26#39;ve rented two cabins which look very nice (the ';Mountain Vista'; cabin looks like it has the deck and views you%26#39;re looking for). I haven%26#39;t been there before, but I%26#39;ll let you know how it is when we return.
mwsDallas - I had seen that website and thought that some of the cabins looked very nice. I will look forward to hearing your impressions after this weekend. Have a wonderful trip!
Hello, GilmoreGal. As promised, I am writing to let you know about my stay in Beavers Bend last weekend. The weather did not cooperate - cold and rainy - but the area was still beautiful and we had a great time under the circumstances. Our group stayed in two cabins in the Southern Hills area -- Mountain Vista and Tuckered Out, both rented by Creative Escapes. They were both very nice. Mountain Vista was not quite as spacious as it appeared on the website, but it still was a truly beautiful cabin and the view was amazing. Tuckered Out%26#39;s floor plan felt more spacious and comfortable for a group with kids, and had a nice (but not nearly as impressive) view. Both were perfectly clean, well-kept and nicely stocked. We would definitely stay in a Creative Escapes cabin again (including either of those two).
That being said, the entire Southern Hills neighborhood is beautiful, and consistent in its building style, so I don%26#39;t think we would limit ourselves to the specific ones rented by Creative Escapes (although we almost certainly would limit ourselves to the Southern Hills area -- I%26#39;m sure there are other beautiful, quiet and convenient neighborhoods around, but from what we saw in our short weekend stay, we liked Southern Hills the best). Other leasing companies that appear to have several nice cabins in that particular neighborhood include http://www.beaversbendlodging.com and http://www.beaversbendgetaways.com. Their cabins look just as nice as Creative Escape%26#39;s and maybe a touch less expensive. They also appear to have more availability going forward - perhaps because Creative Escapes markets more heavily.
So, to sum up a long message, if you%26#39;re a loooking for a high-end cabin with large decks, beautiful views and peace and quiet, I would strongly recommend the Southern Hills neighborhood, and can attest to a postive experience with Creative Escapes in particular.
Hope this is helpful -- best wishes for a wonderful trip!
