Where to stay near uni?

Any advice on moderately-priced hotel accommodation near the university of tulsa? I%26#39;m looking for something within walking distance/ accessible by public transport.

Where to stay near uni?

That%26#39;s a tough one. There isn%26#39;t much in the way of accomodations near TU and what is within a mile or two you probably would not want to stay in.

Your best bet for a moderate priced hotel within a reasonable distance of TU is in the 31st Street %26amp; Memorial Drive area (about 5 miles away). There is a large cluster of hotels/motels there due to the intersection of I-44 and U.S. 51. Choices include an Embassy Suites, Courtyard by Marriott, Hawthorn Suites, Econolodge, Best Western, Quality Suites, Extended Stay America, Holiday Inn Express, Super 8, Studio Plus, and one or two more. The area is safe. There is also a McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Bill %26amp; Ruth%26#39;s, IHOP, Village Inn and Cracker Barrel nearby.

Maybe most importantly for your purpose, there is also a Tulsa Transit transfer station in that area where you would be able to get a bus to TU. Based on the bus line map - http://tulsatransit.org/maps-schedules/maps/ - you can take the #210 bus directly from the Midtown Station to TU at 11th %26amp; Harvard. When you contact the hotels, ask them how many blocks they are from the station.

Good luck!

That%26#39;s a great help, thanks!

I was also noticing on the bus route maps that bus #215 that runs up to and along 15th Street might be quicker if you don%26#39;t mind walking the 1/2 mile from 15th and Harvard or 15th %26amp; Delaware. Both streets would be easy, fairly pleasant walks and take you to the southeast or southwest corners of campus respectively. Maybe try both 210 and 215 and see a little more of the city on each trip!

Are you planning on getting out and trying to see any of the sites around town? I highly recommend Philbrook and Gilcrease museums, the Zoo and the OK Aquarium in Jenks.

Let me know if you need any other help or advice about where to go or how to get there.

Tulsa has a city wide bus system (Tulsa Transit) but it runs limited hours and getting from one place to another can involve rather circuitous routing. You%26#39;ll find in much of the U.S., especially West of the MIssissippi River, that the only useful form of mass transit is the automobile; so you might think about renting a car during your visit. There is just not enough concentration of population to support really good mass transit. You%26#39;ll find many car rental locations have very reasonable weekend rates.

There is a Microtel Inn %26amp; Suites on 21st Street between Harvard and Yale which is about 1 1/2 miles from camps at the most. They offer discounts for TU visitors (just ask) and have a bus stop out front. This is the one at the Tulsa Expo Center... Hope this helps!

Good point about the Microtel. It would be the closest. Only downside is that all restaurants are about 1/2 mile away, at the intersections of 21st %26amp; Yale and 21st %26amp; Harvard.
