Looks like the pits

I am in OC for two days coming up soon....I%26#39;d love to see some actual historic sites and avoid the waterparks, museums and rebuilt towns.

Any suggestions? How far is the Tall Grass Prairie in NE Oklahoma?

Thanks...

Historic sites? The Skirvin Hotel has recently been added to the Historic Hotels of America

and has been on the National Historic Register since 1979. :)

And here is a link to the Tall Grass Prairie:

How far is it from Olahoma City? About 140 miles or 2 to 2 1/2 hours

Thanks....I am actually staying at the Skirvin for two nights.....might also check out the stockyard area...

A good place for history is the Overholser Mansion. Overholser was a founder in Oklahoma City so the house and tour will give you alot of our city%26#39;s history. It is only a few blocks north from the Skirvin.

Also in the underground which is under the Skirvin, there are pictures of Oklahoma City%26#39;s downtown at different times in our history. We also have Oklahoma City Ambassadors (they are easy to find all over downtown and Bricktown) can help you with the area.
