weekend in OC

My husband and I are looking to spend a romantic weekend in Oklahoma City in mid November. Our son will be in town playing hockey at OU, so we will go to the games but hope to spend the rest of the time by ourselves. Looking for recommendations on hotel, restaurants and activities.

The Courtyard Marriott Downtown has rooms with Whirlpools and is located close to Bricktown, which has a lot of fine restaurants for a romantic getaway. My personal favorite is The Mantel Wine Bar and Bistro (http://restauranteur.com/themantel/). Great food and service with an intimate atmosphere.

Brick also bustles with nightlife on the weekends, although the crowds are usually a little younger than people with college age children. Still, if you are young at heart and want to see how the %26#39;kids%26#39; party... :) (I have a daughter in college, BTW.)

Or you can go the Bed and Breakfast route. There are several fine ones in the OKC area.

There are some reviews of a few of these in this forum.

The Grandison seems to get good reviews, but I haven%26#39;t stayed at any of them so I can%26#39;t speak from personal experience.

Have fun!

Definitely stay in Bricktown as it%26#39;s our primary entertainment spot...The courtyard or the Renaissance...If you or your husband are beer drinkers I would suggest the Bricktown Brewery or Coach%26#39;s...Good microbrews and bbq at both restaurants

If you want foo foo then Nonna%26#39;s looks romantic and also suggest Toby Keith%26#39;s I Love This Bar and Grill for more casual food

Also up a little north of Bricktown if you like sushi then Sushi Neko is also excellent

I definitely recommend The Mantel in Bricktown. In terms of activities, do the Oklahoma City Museum of Art downtown. They have a blockbuster exhibit of Egyptian artifacts from the British Museum, which contains the largest collection of artifacts outside Cairo.

OCMOA%26#39;s permanent collection features amazing glassworks from the famous Washington artist, Dale Chihuly. Thursday - Sundays they show independent, classic or foreign films. They may have showings on Tuesday and Wednesday, check the schedule www.okcmoa.org (click on Film). The restaurant serves French fusion cuisine. On Thursday nights, they have cocktails on the rooftop -- a very Oklahoma City experience.

I also recommend taking a walk through the Myriad Gardens - very romantic at night with the skyline lights.
