Circular Fields??

Hi, I%26#39;m from Qu茅bec,Canada and on my flight back from San Francisco I noticed some circles on the ground, in Oklahoma %26amp; New Mexico areas. It appears to be fields of wheat or something similar. Can anyone enlighten me on the reason of this method? Why circular fields? And they are huge! Never seen this before

Center pivot irrigation (sometimes called central pivot irrigation) is a method of crop irrigation in which equipment rotates around a pivot. A circular area centred on the pivot is irrigated, often creating a circular pattern in crops when viewed from above
