The Skirvin is going to have it%26#39;s work cut out if it%26#39;s going to be better than the Colcord. We stayed at the Colcord this last weekend; it is lovely and the service was excellent.
It%26#39;s hard for some Oklahoma Citians to be objective with the Skirvin because it%26#39;s so beloved by the city. But if it means anything, it is a Hilton.
I haven%26#39;t been to the rooms, but this Victorian beauty%26#39;s lounge is plush and its signature restaurant, the Park Avenue Grill, has an excellent Oklahoma-flavored American menu.
My family and I have reservations for the middle of March and I can%26#39;t wait to see what the talk is about. I will definitely be back to give my review.
I have not stayed there nor eaten in the restaurant, but when downtown last week for the Big 12 tournament I gave myself a tour of the lobby and gift shop and it looks really terrific!
At night the building is lit up beautifully and the place looks better than it has since I can remember (I%26#39;m 40-something).
I haven%26#39;t stayed at the Colcord either. Today, I tried to book first the Colcord and then the Skirvin for my wedding anniversary coming up in May, and both were full.
There must be some convention or something then.
Anyhow, I also would love to hear a first-hand account of a guest there. A co-worker has her daughter%26#39;s wedding reception scheduled there in June.
Wife stayed in a suite last weekend and was very impressed with the room....Evident they are still working out some kinks because the room service breakfast order was all wrong...They did comp it so it was definitely rectified
Enjoyed the restaurant as well, but thought it was a little overpriced for the quality of food and service
