Hi,
My husband has a business trip planned to OKC in August. We live in MS and I will be flying out to spend one weekend that month with him.
We have never been to OK. I need opinions on things to do. I have seen good reveiws of bricktown, but I have also read on some sites that some people are dissatisfied with that area. I would like us to be able to walk or ride the water taxi to restaurants, bars, etc. I also read that there are carriage rides, etc.
Can someone give me some opinions please?
Thank you!

Here is a site for the Water Taxi:

And here are some general Bricktown Sites:

All of Bricktown can be easily walked and the Water Taxi is an interesting ride. The carriage rides will take you around downtown.
I have ridden the water taxi shortly after it started and it was nice, but I imagine it will be more interesting today since they%26#39;ve added a lot of new sites on the southern end of the run.
I haven%26#39;t seen much criticism of Bricktown, but you must remember - it is basically an entertainment district and the theme is more about clubs, restaurants and entertainment (baseball, concerts, festivals, etc) than about shopping or museums so some people may be disappointed in the ';things to category';.
There are also other things to do in downtown OKC. There%26#39;s the Oklahoma City Museum of Art:

Finally, here is a link to the convention and visitors bureau site with loads more info about OKC.
Personally, I would plan a trip to the Zoo, the Museum of Art, the Western Heritage Center, the State Museum of History and some of the other attractions you can find on the Visitors site.
If you have any specific questions after slogging through this information, let us know!

And the Myriad Botanical Gardens is always worth a visit:

Mod is right, if you are looking to pass the time shopping in Bricktown, you won%26#39;t have much; however, for the adventurous, there is:
Indoor rock climbing:

Biking along a river trail or rowing (limited hours):
http://www.chesapeakeboathouse.org
The boathouse rents out bikes for trail riding.
Dont forget the Oklahoma City National Memorial. If you can%26#39;t make it during the day to see the museum, definately go see the chairs at night. Very safe area with 24 hour security.
