From Ireland to Oklahoma

What is the shortest way to get from Ireland to Oklahoma. We were thinking of travelling next June but the long journey is putting me off. Any suggestions.

From Ireland to Oklahoma

If you want central %26amp; northern OK, then you would fly into OKC airport. If you were looking for southern OK, then fly into Dallas---this will save you $$$, as well.

I am sure you would have a layover somewhere, but stay away from ST. Louis. They are notorious for delayed flights and overselling.

If you give me specifics about what you mean the shortest way, I could possibly help you further.

If you drive from New York, be prepared....it is at least 20 hours or longer.

From Ireland to Oklahoma

There are direct flights from Dublin to DFW Airport.

And if you take in the time you will spend in Dallas waiting for your flight to OKC to depart, it might be faster to get off in DFW, rent a car and drive up to OKC - you%26#39;ll need a vehicle no matter where you are in Oklahoma.

Like angeladede said - more specifics will get more specific responses.

Thank you for your replies.

I should have said the fastest way to Oklahoma from Ireland. I believe Shannon/Dublin have a flight to Dallas but I think there is a stopover somewhere not sure as the flights are not available yet. Is this the fastest way or would it be better to go from Heathrow.

Also we were thinking of coming back through New York to break the journey on the way home. This is our first trip to America. Usually our family is one direct flight to Europe so I am finding it a bit confusing as to what airlines to use etc.

Not having travelled to Ireland, I honestly can%26#39;t say what airline is best, or which route is best.

If you want to know about the Airlines themselves and over-the-ocean flights, you might search the New York City forums for ';American Airlines'; and ';British Air'; and other airline names. I%26#39;ve seen a lot of discussion there about the different airlines travelling between the UK and USA.

BA offers direct flights from London (Heathrow/Gatwick) to Dallas (DFW). And a direct flight will always be the shortest time - but the shortest time listed is 9 or 10 hours, and then it would be another 3 ours or so to OKC from Dallas (2 hours between flights and an hour from Dallas to OKC.)

American Airlines shows flights from Dublin to Chicago and then on to OKC. Total travel time is around 17 hours. American also has flights from Heathrow to Dallas, and from there you can get to OKC.

I honestly believe the shortest travel time you are facing is around 15 hours no matter how you go. And it could be a lot longer depending on the number of stopovers and the time between flights. (One flight itinerary I foundwas around 24 hours total.)

If you stop in NYC on the way back, it will break things up nicely, but it will also be fairly expensive to stay anywhere in Manhattan (which is what most people consider NYC.) Once again, for that I would definitely check out the NYC forum here in TA.

Good luck!

Thank you for your reply. There is plenty there to keep me busy.

We we thinking of travelling end of June/early July. How hot is it on average at that time of the year?

Average temps in June range from around 29C to 33C, with a record low of 8C/19C (Night/Day) and a record high of 41C.

July is warmer: Average about 34C. Record lows 12C/22C (Night/Day) and a record high of 43C.

Humidity is typically low - anywhere from 20%RH to 35%RH.

However, this year was an exception due to high rainfall all summer. AS a result, temps were slightly below normal, but we saw many days with the humidity in the 50-60% range - and some days up into the 70-80% range.
