Four Tulsa Restaurants

I will be in Tulsa, OK for a convention this weekend. A group of us will be going out for a couple of meals and are looking at the following:

Gaucho Brazilian Steakhouse

Silver Flame Steakhouse %26amp; Seafood

Cowboy Sharkies

Billy Sims BBQ

Comments on any of these would be appreciated.

Four Tulsa Restaurants

The Silver Flame is one of several restaurants in the Tulsa area featuring Syrian style dining.... humus, tabuli, cabbage rolls, and large steaks. I%26#39;ve always found it to be a great value - although when I%26#39;m in the mood for a steak, I%26#39;m usually looking for a romantic atmosphere, and can%26#39;t say the Silver Flame has that at all. You will find great service, great prices for the amount of food you get, and they usually have some good entertainment during the evening.

I have visited Cowboy Sharkies only once and didn%26#39;t think the food was anything outstanding. It%26#39;s loud, and a bit more bar scene than dining scene in my opinion. But if you like the young noisy crowd, where the beer flows and enjoy playing pool... they you would probably like it here.

Billy Sims has good barbeque, but Tulsa has many outstanding barbeque places in town. The ultimate barbeque in my opinion is Elmers. It%26#39;s been around for over 20 years with the motto ';Elmer%26#39;s be bad';... which of course means it%26#39;s fabulous. If you want to taste barbeque you will never forget... try Elmers! Their website is elmersbbq.net.

I cannot comment on the Brazilian Steakhouse as I have not been there. But I would recommend if you are looking for a nice atmosphere and delicious ';non Syrian'; style steak with excellent sides... try Green Onion while you are here. www.greenoniontulsa.com

One last place you really should check out would be Goldie%26#39;s Hamburgers. Another Tulsa tradition with the first one opening in 1962, their special seasoned charcoal hamburgers, and never ending pickle bar is delightful! They have 5 locations in Tulsa - my favorite being at 51st and Lewis, the site of the original one. www.goldies.com

Enjoy your visit here and happy eating!

Four Tulsa Restaurants

We have a Gaucho Brazilian steakhouse in OKC...the one here is great so it should be good if they are affiliated...great selection of meats and they just keep coming...they bring the meats on a skewer to the table and you just tell them yes or no

Of course if you are a vegetarian you may want to pass : )

For steaks, you%26#39;ve got to go to Jamil%26#39;s. You get all the Lebanese style appetizers, plus the best steaks in Tulsa. Atmosphere is a little lacking, but it%26#39;s been in business in the same location for over 40 years.

For BBQ, skip the ';name brand'; and try one of the local joints, like Wilson%26#39;s. Two locations, one in North Tulsa, a new one just opened in mid-town (check the phone book, sorry haven%26#39;t been to that one).

Gaucho Brazilian Steakhouse

I didn%26#39;t care for this restaurant. It%26#39;s more show than food. Each item in the meal was served separately one at a time. Boring.

Silver Flame Steakhouse %26amp; Seafood

Again I don%26#39;t care much for this restaurant. It seems like a fire trap. You can do a lot better in Tulsa for Steak or Seafood.

Cowboy Sharkies

No opinion. Never been there. Probably never will.

Billy Sims BBQ

A very small hole in the wall place in the Farm shopping center. Caters to OU football fans. I much prefer Elmer%26#39;s BBQ at 42nd and Peoria and Billy Ray%26#39;s near the Sinclair refinery on Southwest Blvd.

Cowboy Sharkies is amazing food!! I have been there several times and tried something different from the menu each time. The service is spectacular compared to any other restraunt in Tulsa. Their ribs are very good probabally the best I%26#39;ve eaten. Fried shrimp was very tasty and large. They do a birthday club and anniversary club which is nice considering most restraunts aren%26#39;t doing anything anymore.

Love the Gaucho, but you better bring big bucks. It is a buffet style, but the meats (28 kinds) are served at your table. Reservations recommended. Expensive.

If you are looking for a local steakhouse and aren%26#39;t worried about atmosphere, try Jamil%26#39;s off Harvard. Great steaks. or drive to Sapulpa and try Freddie%26#39;s. These are Lebanese style.

BBQ, try the Rib Crib or Elmer%26#39;s or Billy Ray%26#39;s. Billy Simms is just ok.

For a good fun atmosphere, try the 5 and Diner on Memorial. Burgers, etc. it is connected to the Harley store.

Want some great pizza, try the Hideway. A favorite.

Never been to Sharkey%26#39;s though.

For steaks I would go to McGills. Great food all around. There is one around the Utica Square area and then one in south Tulsa as well.

For BBQ I love Albert G%26#39;s. Not the best atmosphere but the most tender meat and great sauce. Rib Crib is also really good. Good meat and a restaurant setting%26#39;

You might also try Hideaway pizza. Really good.
