Turner Turnpike Question

Thanks again for all your help in giving me info for my trip this weekend. Have decided to do 35 up thru OKC stopping for night as suggested at Ardmore.

My concern now is the turner turnpike. When I get on it will it have places along it like service areas where we can stop if needed for ,bathroom etc. or is it pretty much 90 miles with few exits? I have been on the Florida turnpike that had very nice centers along it for stopping and stretching, but I have been all over the web and can find nothing abouth anything like that on Turner. Anyone tell me? Just need to be aware to get gas and bathroom in OKC before, but would llike to be aware in case of car emergency, etc. Will be driving this part on Saturday morning in daylight as we are going to go to the OKC memorial on way. Thanks again.

Oh yes, one more thing. Do I just pay and get on for the whole way, or are there numerous pay stops???

Turner Turnpike Question

Denedayle,

Aside from a few exits from the turnpike, I believe there are 3 McDonalds with adjacent gas stations on the turnpike. If travelling from OKC all the way to Tulsa, then you only need to stop and pay once about halfway between OKC and Tulsa.

Turner Turnpike Question

Jread, Thank you so much. That is exactly what I needed to know.

For a map and toll fee, go to this URL:

http://www.pikepass.com/

Select ';maps/tolls'; at the top (in the red) - not the sub sections, just ';maps/tolls';.

Click on the I44 shield and you will get a detailed map of the pike along with the service areas and the direction they serve - except for Stroud there are different stops east and west.

As stated, the toll collection point is just east of Stroud and the toll is $3.35.

Have fun!

Thanks Modcon, that top tab is what I kept missing. That helps to have an idea where they are and I will add that to my list of info for the trip.

I was on the Turner Turnpike today (and am frequently). Speed limit is 75 mph, so the 90 miles doesn%26#39;t take long at all. Very little construction right now. There is a McDonalds in the center, and still one about 2/3 towards Tulsa. They have closed the gas pumps at the 1/3 %26amp; 2/3 stop, so the only gas pumps are @ the center stop (there%26#39;s also a convenience store there).

You pay the toll just a couple miles on the Tulsa side of the center rest stop.

Otherwise, Oklahoma rest stops (including the other ones on the Turner Turnpike) consist of a wide spot in the road and a picnic table (usually unshaded) with no bathroom facilities.

Enjoy the OKC Memorial; it is really special.

Thanks art, Will fill up in Ardmore and should be ok for the trip to tulsa,in a suburban.Looking forward to a little trip with the kids and found out that there is a casino by Tulsa. So after I drop kids off at concert will go have a look. Not much of a gambler but I figure drop a little in a slot and see what happens. It should be a nice day to go to the memorial.I think they took rain out of the forecast now.
