Looking for mid-week romantic getaway in early August

We currently live in MN but will be in OK visiting family a few weeks from now. As my wife is from OK City, I%26#39;m having difficulty planning a unique 3-day 2-night getaway to celebrate our anniversary and would like recommendations on the Tulsa area. I%26#39;ve read about several hotels and attractions but it doesn%26#39;t appear the hotels have any availability the first week of August - is there a big event coming?

The 2007 PGA Championship is being held at Tulsa%26#39;s Southern Hills Country Club August 6-12. It is doubtful you will be able to find a decent hotel room during that week at this point. I%26#39;m really sorry about that because we%26#39;d love to have you come see how great Tulsa is.

If Tulsa doesn%26#39;t work out, you might want to take a look at a stay in Guthrie, OK. You can check it out at www.guthrieok.com. Its very close to OKC and is a nice place for a quick romantic getaway. For a lot more options on what to do you could also consider making the 3 hour drive to Dallas or Ft. Worth.

Have a great trip. Be sure to bring your hot weather clothes!

What about the Price Tower, in Bartlesville, about 40 miles north of Tulsa? Frank Lloyd Wright%26#39;s only sky scraper office tower is now open as an inn/restaurant/museum. Lovely place, and very unique. You could easily drive into Tulsa, to the Tall Grass Prairie, or to Woolaroc for daytime outings. http://www.pricetower.org/

Given the PGA tournament, you might want to adjust your dates as all accommodations in %26amp; around Tulsa are likely to be booked. I do recommend the Inn at Jarrett Farm just North of Tulsa--very romantic, B%26amp;B style, luxurious, good restaurant for both breakfast %26amp; dinner. Or you might try the McBirney Mansion in Tulsa--just not for the PGA dates.

I%26#39;m not familiar with the Tulsa area but I noticed someone mentioned driving to the DFW area. When we lived in Dallas, we used to drive to Lake Murray for nice little weekend getaways. Probably about 2 hours away from Tulsa (took about 1 hour from Dallas). They have a state park with a lodge. It depends on your idea of a unique getaway, but we love the outdoors and really enjoyed this area.

Hope you have a great time!

There is a wonderful B %26amp; B on Hwy 75 (between Tulsa and Bartlesville). It is countryside living with a lot of charm and appeal. It is called Jarrett Farms; check out this link http://www.jarrettfarm.com/index.htm.
