1 day trip to Oklahoma City, 1st time visit

Hi Everyone,

We are planning a road trip and will only be in town for 1 day, 2 days at most and this will be in the month of May. Can anyone recommend, for a first time visitor on a limited amount of time, what would be the ';must dos';?

We really don%26#39;t care what we do, we just want to experience the best time we can while we%26#39;re on our road trip on our short amount of time and absolutely any input would be appreciated.

We will have a car, if that means anything.

Thank you all so much!

Charlene

Here are a couple of other topics on this forum that address things to do in OKC! :)

Without more information about your likes/dislikes, age group, kids/no kids, etc, making a recommendation on ';Must sees'; is a little difficult. Basically there are several things many people want to see while in OKC - The Murrah Memorial and Museum, the Crystal Bridge in the Myriad Botanical Gardens, the National Western Heritage Museum/Cowboy Hall of Fame and Bricktown.

You didn%26#39;t say whether you have kids. When I lived in OKC, my kids and I bought season passes to Frontier City and White Water Bay, which were VERY good for the price, especially White Water Bay. Meridian Avenue has MANY good restaurants, and if you%26#39;re staying in OKC, you%26#39;re probably staying on Meridian. Along the I-40 corridor, there%26#39;s Celebration Station, Bass Pro Shops (along with the whole Bricktown thing), the Redhawks play in May at the Bricktown ballpark, the Big 12 baseball tournament may be in OKC as well. Harkins has a nice theater downtown as well.

The I-35 corridor has the OKC Zoo, Remington Park, Omniplex, and the Tinseltown theater.

Hope that helps!!

The one thing I would definitly visit is the Oklahoma City National Memorial %26amp; Museum (bombing site). It is very beautiful and moving.

In addition to that, I%26#39;d choose a visit to at least one of the following:

Oklahoma History Center

National Cowboy %26amp; Western Heritage Center

Oklahoma City Zoo

These are all very high quality attractions where I think you will definitely feel you got your money%26#39;s worth.

After a day at the museums or the Zoo I%26#39;d go out for dinner in Bricktown, probably to Abuelo%26#39;s or Chelino%26#39;s.

If I had a second day, I%26#39;d see whatever of the above I didn%26#39;t get to or take the 20 mile drive south to Norman and visit the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History.

Have a great trip!

I noticed that you have posted this question for about fifteen cities. That%26#39;s quite a road trip! Do you have your route finalized?

Don%26#39;t forget about Bricktown. There are tons of places to eat, shop, visit, and explore. There are canal rides. Some of the streets are the old brick laid streets. I wouldn%26#39;t go by yourself at night (only as a safety measure).
