Where to stay in Tulsa?

Hello OK,

Alberta visitor coming to Tulsa first week in January for 5 days. What part of town is a good place to stay? I don%26#39;t want to end up in a ';bad'; side of town.

Also, where would be a good friendly bar/pub to go to for a fun time with some live music?

Thanks!

Downtown has several good choices on the higher end (Doubletree, Ambassador, Crowne Plaza), or you might try the Doubletree South (61st %26amp; Yale) or some of the more mid-market hotels/motels within a mile or two of the Woodland Hills Mall area (71st %26amp; Memorial).

For a friendly bar with some live music, you might try Lolas at the Bowery (google for the website) or several of the night spots in the Brookside area (South Peoria Avenue from 33rd to 41st). When you arrive, see if you can pick up a free copy of this week%26#39;s Urban Tulsa newspaper, which contains a really good listing of bars and live music, or get the Friday Tulsa World and check the ';Spot'; section (ditto, plus more activities).

I would stay at the Embassy Suites when travelling to Tulsa. Large room, free drinks (before going out) and free breakfast.

I agree with picking up the Urban Tulsa to see what is going on around town.

When I came here I went to Brookside for teh bar/pub scene. A variety of bars. And the mall at Woodland Hills is great shopping too. I stayed at the embassy (actually wrote a review). Great place to stay and like they said...good drinks for free!!
