Vegetarian eating in Tulsa

Hi

We are %26#39;doing%26#39; route 66 in september2007 and are in the planning stage. We are coming over from UK

We are looking for vegetarian eating places. We know we can use fast food chains if nothing else is available. We also know we can google these places but would rather have local recommendations.

Thanx

Vegetarian eating in Tulsa

The only vegetarian restaurant I know of, that explcitely advertizes itself as vegetarian, is called Bi-Le%26#39;s vegetarian, which is located in a strip mall, around 6600 S. Lewis Ave.

Most Italian restaurants will fix meat free dishes, which are quite tasty. A couple of really good choices within a kilometer of Route 66 include Camerellis and Tucci%26#39;s, both on 15th Street (also known as ';Cherry Street';) between Peoria %26amp; Utica Avenues. A lot of diner restaurants will fix a straight vegetable plate (3 or more of the vegetables they have prepared that day); on Route 66 try the Corner Cafe, on the corner at 11th Street (Route 66) %26amp; Peoria Ave.

My wife is a vegetarian, who eats some fish (a ';pesce vegetarian,'; I think they call that); I%26#39;ve asked her for some recommendations and if I get some I%26#39;ll make another post.

Big Al%26#39;s Healthy Foods (www.bigalshealthyfoods.com) at 15th %26amp; Harvard (1/2 mile south of route 66). They have many good subs, salads, wraps and vegetarian specialties along with smoothies and fresh juice drinks.

While not strictly a vegetarian eating place, consider a lunch or dinner at In The Raw, a sushi restaurant at 61st %26amp; Sheridan (www.intheraw-tulsa.com). They have an assortment of vegetarian sushi rolls, a nice veggie wrap and some good salads, along of course with a lot of great seafood sushi if you do eat fish. Best of all though is that the restaurant is located on top of one of Tulsa%26#39;s highest hills and provides a spectacular view of the city and the sunset. It is really a great experience and the weather should be perfect in September for dining on their patio.

Enjoy your trip!

You may want to try India Palace on 71st and Lewis or Indian Corner on 61st and Garnett. They will gladly accomodate your request for vegetarian. Also, try Thai Siam at 31st and Sheridan. There are plenty of veg options there.
