I will be in OKC to with my 22 y/o daughter for one day (a Thursday). We are staying at the Skirvin. For $43 we can get a full breakfast included, I somehow doubt that is the best deal or meal. Is there a great breakfast place in Bricktown that would be worthwhile? I do not want a chain - we can get Waffle House, Cracker Barrel and any other chain anywhere. We are fans of local spots - and we%26#39;ll have a car, though walking distance would be nice since we%26#39;ll be doing your aforementioned walking tour and a canal cruise afterwards.
TIA!!!!
Breakfast advice - urbanokadvisor?I like Java Daves on 10th between Broadway and 235. You will have to drive the few miles from the Skirvin. Yes, it is a small Oklahoma based franchise chain but is worth the stop. This is probably their flagship location. It is a large location with free wifi for the OU Med students. They have a large selection of pastries or you can order from the kitchen menu.... good luck.
Breakfast advice - urbanokadvisor?I stayed at the Skirvin a couple of weeks ago and their breakfast was very good, definately not worth $43 though. You would be better off just paying menu price for what you want.
But if you are looking for a true Oklahoma original for breakfast there is only one place to go. Cattlemen%26#39;s Steakhouse, 1309 S. Agnew, Oklahoma City, OK. Its close to downtown only a 10 minute drive from Skirvin.
They serve a true cowboy breakfast, most of which is homemade. Very good. They have a website
http://www.cattlemensrestaurant.com/ and it shows their menu.
Good luck, and hope you enjoy your stay in OKC.
As another poster mentioned, the Classen Grill is great for breakfast. Yes, it is a drive, but nothing here is more than a few minutes away, since OKC does not have the traffic many of us from larger cities are accustomed to. Another spot for some good down-home type breakfast is Beverlys Pancake Corner. It is located on the corner of Penn and Northwest Expressway, very close to the Classen Grill. This is the last location in what was an Oklahoma dining chain that has been in business since the 1920%26#39;s. This place is nothing to look at, but the blueberry pancakes and the western breakfast are great. We actually learned about this place last year on this same forum, as we were in the process of relocating to OK.
As for Java Daves, I%26#39;ve never been to the mentioned location, and maybe it%26#39;s better, but the one we%26#39;ve visited was horrible. I have to say, I didn%26#39;t eat, only ordered coffee, but it was so bad we just threw it away.
