Looking for local food favorites?

I will be visiting OKC next week and was wondering if someone could help me with a list of the locals favorite restaurants. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Looking for local food favorites?

Wow, this is wide open!!!

Any type of food you like (or hate) more than another? Price range?

Personally, I like The Mantel in bricktown (not to be confused with Mickey Mantle%26#39;s, please.) Steaks and stuff. Very good but many people consider it a little to a lot expensive. :)

Most people rave about Ted%26#39;s Cafe Escondido. Chelino%26#39;s is also good - remember this is all Tex-Mex!

Cattleman%26#39;s Steakhouse is a staple in this town. And for BBQ, Swadley%26#39;s is good and you can%26#39;t go wrong with Earl%26#39;s (location in Bricktown.)

Let us know if there are any specific type of foods you are looking for or wanting to avoid and the list can be more comprehensive

:)

Thank you. I guess I am looking for more of the off the beaten path inexpensive restaurants that OKC is know for. Willing to travel wherever. I guess what I am saying is - What is a great place for breakfast? Or what is the best place for dessert? Where is the best place for a good microbrew beer?

We plan on going to Bricktown and eating our way through there, but I am interested in is those few restaurants that only locals go to, that serve the best ______ in the state?

Best FRIED CHICKEN in the state Eichens鈥?on Okarche. States oldest bar. Great food.

Best BBQ, Head Country restaurant in Ponca City.

Best ITALIAN, all the local restaurants in Krens by McAlister.

HTH!

Great Mexican food - Bandolero%26#39;s 5714 S Shields in OKC. Ph.: 601-0422

I second Eichen%26#39;s Bar for fried chicken. It%26#39;s not in OKC, but Okarche is only about 35-45 minutes from OKC straight west down NW Expressway.108 S. 2nd in Okarche. Ph.: 263-9939

And I%26#39;ll reiterate Cattleman%26#39;s Steakhouse. 1309 S. Agnew in OKC. Ph: 236-0416

For a quick lunch, I like the Chicken Fried Steak at Chuck House Restaurant 4430 NW 10th Street. Ph.: 942-0852

And for great omelets, Jimmy%26#39;s Egg - several locations around OKC.

If you like German food - and great pastries - go to Ingrid%26#39;s Kitchen at 3701 N. Youngs in OKC. Ph.: 946-8444

And for Old Time Diner food, Moe%26#39;s Place at 5012 N. MacArthur. Ph.: 495-7030

All of these restaurants are reasonably priced and, IMO, have very good food.

One more place I forgot to mention: For Italian in OKC - Papa Dio%26#39;s, 10712 N. May Ave. 755-2255. Reasonably priced, good choice of wines and very good food.

For downtown coffee, try the Buzz%26#39;s Italian-style espresso, at the corner of Robinson and Park Ave (open weekdays for daytime business). Otherwise, I like Cafe Bella at SW 89th and Pennsylvania. They serve Vietnamese po boys and bubble tea as well. Next door, Pho 89 serves the hearty beef noodle soup for a good price.

Great dim sum can be head nearby at Grand House on NW 27th %26amp; Classen on the weekends.

Everybody has a different opinion of the best burgers, but for me, the best is at Braums, with multiple locations. The burgers are fresh (and not intimadating) and the fries are crisp. The ice cream%26#39;s good, too.
