women's college world series- hard to find motel?

My husband and I love to watch the women%26#39;s college world series on TV, and we have decided to actually travel to Oklahoma City next year to attend some of the games in person. My questions are how difficult is it to find a hotel at that time, and what hotels should we be looking at (distance-wise from where the games are played)? We would probably be looking to spend 100-200 a night. We would be grateful for any restaurant suggestions also.

Hello, RQT,

So glad you want to come to the college world series. Collegiate sporting events have a wonderful home in Oklahoma City.

The headline on the front page of the Daily Oklahoman yesterday was: ';Believe it: WCWS a big deal: Fans line up at midnight for tickets; attendance record should fall.';

There are several areas of hotels for you to consider: downtown/Bricktown Historical area; northwest highway corridor, Memorial/Kilpatrick turnpike (farther to the north); and I-40/Meridian area.

Here is a link to hotels partnering with the ASA for 2007. This will give you a place to start your planning.

I called one of the listed hotels, the Marriott Courtyard on Northwest Highway, and was told that the ASA rate is weekday-$120 and weekend-$99. This hotel is close to the best shopping center in the city and some good restaurants.

Downtown there are two historic hotels which might have a good rate for the event: the Hilton SKirvin and the Colcord Hotel. From there you could walk to Bricktown and other places of interest to tourists.

There is also a Courtyard in Bricktown, and several other hotels. Do be careful if you want to stay in Bricktown that the hotel is actually in that area. Some hotels describe themselves as Bricktown although are really not.

I can%26#39;t speak to the difficulty of finding a hotel. If you start in the near future, I would think there would be no problem.

For restaurant suggestions, please post back with location, cuisine, and budget you have in mind.

Good travels!
